Abstract

The relative decline of American and Western dominance has pushed the international system into a period of transition. This change has reshaped global order and patterns of interaction. The main question of this study is how Russia's approach and behavior in this changing international order, especially after 2014, have affected its position in global politics. The study aims to examine Russia's capacities, strategies, and limitations in seeking a stronger international role. Its significance lies in helping to understand Russia's place in the future global order. Using power-cycle theory and an analytical-explanatory method, the research draws on data from library sources. The findings show that Russia seeks to strengthen its great-power status by criticizing Western hegemony, emphasizing strategic independence, and playing a more active role. However, its geoeconomic weakness and economic constraints limit its influence in the emerging international order.
