Abstract

This research has a practical purpose, adopting a descriptive-analytical approach to gather qualitative-combined information. The study investigates and reports the current status and significant challenges within Afghanistan's higher education quality assessment. The research singles out the "higher education quality assurance process" as its analytical variable. The research population encompasses professors, students, and employees from two Kabul-based universities, one private and one public. Non-probability or available stratified sampling methods were employed, and data collection utilized participatory observation and open interviews. Data analysis involved coding of interview data and observational findings. The results underscore serious problems in the quality assurance process, particularly within policy and planning departments and the execution mechanism, calling for revisions based on the identified challenges.
