Abstract
Many Afghan university graduates lack professional qualifications in their respective fields, rendering them ineligible for government positions and many private-sector jobs. This study examines this issue, involving 64 current and former biology department students from Paktika Higher Education Institute. The study employs quantitative empirical research methods, gathering data through questionnaires and on-the-ground observations. The findings point to a teacher-centered approach as the primary cause of students' lack of professional ability, highlighting the critical importance of student-centered learning in developing students' communication, understanding, self-confidence, critical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
