Abstract

Higher education serves as a crucial catalyst for realizing sustainable development goals, encompassing intellectual growth, spiritual enlightenment, and material progress. As we navigate the sustainable development goals agenda intending to address the world's most urgent challenges by 2030, it becomes evident that improving the quality of higher education is imperative for success. The knowledge and expertise imparted by higher education institutions emerge as strategic assets in our collective endeavor to attain these goals. This study aims to investigate the role of higher education in realizing sustainable development goals. This study, employing qualitative methods grounded in library data, explores how higher education institutions can significantly contribute to sustainable development through education, research, operational practices, and active societal engagement. However, despite commendable efforts, higher education institutions continue to grapple with challenges in the quest for sustainable outcomes.
