Abstract

This research analyses Afghanistan's comparative advantage in agricultural products as an opportunity for job creation in 2011-2022. To measure the comparative advantage and determine the competitive position in the global markets, this research used RCA, RSCA, Relative RC, and χ2 methods. The research findings show that Afghanistan has a comparative advantage in producing and exporting agricultural products, so in dry fruits, fresh and medicinal plants, it is in the first place; vegetables and legumes are in the second place, and industrial plants are in the third place. Moreover, RC and χ2 indices reveal that despite Afghanistan's favorable comparative advantage and competitive potential, it has yet to secure an appropriate position in global markets. To create job opportunities and enhance market positioning, the study recommends developing expertise in the cultivation, production, and export of agricultural products and implementing standardized processing, packaging, and systematic marketing strategies.
