Abstract

Mathematics learning in the classroom focuses on mathematical activities, and the implementation of these activities usually involves teacher-student interaction to facilitate mathematics learning. Therefore, implementing mathematical activities in the class that cause reflection and discussion is a constructive method for teaching mathematics. One of the most important points in mathematics learning is that students understand mathematics when they either create methods to solve problems or try existing methods. This point is completely different from the promoter's point of view. According to the promoter's view, students understand mathematics when they listen to the teacher's clear explanations and observe the teacher's problem solving. In this article, we will explain what is meant by saying that students should be encouraged to create methods to solve problems or try existing methods, and we will show why this point is essential for understanding mathematics.
